Verdicchio is a grape that produces crisp, acidic whites with flavors of lemon and bitter almonds. It is grown primarily in central Italy, although there are many sub varieties along the Adriatic coast.

Verdicchio is both an Italian wine with a full DOC and a grape, which counts as unusual in Europe.

While Chianti Classico is a demarcated DOCG district, the Classico for Verdicchio, for example, refers to the central part of the appellation. cleanA wine without winemaking flaws or bacterial spoilage.

The best included a 2005 Verdicchio di Castello dei Jesi Classico named "Castelverde." This non-oak aged Verdicchio has great depth of lemon and apple fruit with light spice in the lengthy finish.
