Ardha Sarvangasana
Ardha Sarvangasana is an important Yoga pose and it helps in proper thyroid function and strengthening of abdomen. Ardha Sarvangasana also stretches upper back, improves blood circulation and encourages relaxation.

 


Ardha Matsyendrasana I
Twisting poses massage the internal organs, flushing out toxins that can show up as skin disturbances.
Sit on the floor with legs extended, knees crossed right over left.

Ardha Navāsana (Sanskrit: अर्धनावासन) or Half Boat Pose[1] is an asana. It is a variation of Parip"rṇa Nāvāsana.[2]

Ardha-Matsyendrasana (Modified) The Half-Matsyendra Posture
In this posture, the leg is folded inwards instead of outstretched.

The Half Spinal Twist Pose
Translation:
Ardha means half. Matsyendra is one of many Siddhas or masters who where accomplished Yogis mentioned in the medieval Yoga text the Hatha-Yoga-Pradipika.

Ardha Chandrasana
Pronunciation: (ar-dauh chan-DRAWS-ahna)
Sanskrit translation: Ardha means half. Candra or Chandra means moon or luminous, as in the light from the moon. Asana means posture or pose in Sanskrit.

When you are fully in Ardha Candrasana there is a tendency to have the weight shifted inward and the hips rolling inward toward the inside of your bottom leg due to the natural fear of falling backward.

The Twist Posture (Ardha Matsyendrdsana)

This is one of the basic yoga poses. It is a beautiful posture. When executed correctly, you will feel like a peacock majestically unfolding his large, colorful fan.

Ardha Matsyendrasana is one of only fifteen poses that Swatmarama included in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, therefore it is considered an essential pose.

Ardha Mandalasana
Start from a kneeling position.
1 - Sweep your right hand overhead and to the left, shifting your weight toward your left as you press your left shin downward, allowing the left hand to drop toward the earth.

Sit on the floor with legs stretched out. Bend the right leg at the knee and set the heel firmly against perineum.

This Asana increases appetite by increasing the digestive fire. It destroys terrible diseases. It rouses Kundalini and makes the moon-flow, Chandranadi, steady.

Ardha Matsyendrasana
Paschimottanasana and Halasana bend the spine forwards. Dhanur, Bhujanga and Salabha Asanas are counter-poses to bend the spine backwards. This is not sufficient.

ARDHA BADDHA PADMATONNASANA
Half Bound Lotus Intense Stretch
Method
Stand erect; as you inhale bring the right leg up to half lotus position trying to place the heel in the abdomen beside the navel.

Ardha Pashchimottanasana is not an independent Asana. But since Paschimottanasana (full) is difficult to practice, Pashchimottanasana (ardha) is designed to enable the body to take the full position later.

Ardha Matsyendrasa is named after the great sage, Matsyendra, who started out as a fish. While swimming near an island in the ocean, this small, fortunate fish overheard Siva passing on the teachings to Parvati.

Half Moon / Ardha Chandrasana
From Triangle Pose (2), bend the right knee and put the right hand on the floor (or block) in front of the right foot.

Asanas such as ardha shalabhasana (half locust pose) variations can be done on the hands and knees, and ardha dhanurasana (half bow) can be done lying on the side.

Half Spinal Twist - Ardha Matsyandrasana
Also known as The 'Lord Of The Fishes' Pose, this spinal twist helps to invigorate and awaken spinal energy, releasing tension in the hips. Bend your left foot in, near your right hip.

If done properly, the Half Spinal Twist lengthens and strengthens the spine. It is also beneficial for your liver, kidneys, as well as adrenal glands.

SIMPLE CHEST EXPANSION (ARDHA CHAKRASANA)
Get into a standing position, arms at sides.
Your feet should be approximately six inches apart. Relax your spine.

where we are told that the relationship between one part and the other part - Shiva and Shakti, and Ishvara and Nari in this Ardha-Nari-Ishvaraconcept - is something like the relationship of sesame to the oil which is immanent in it.

5. Setu Bhandasana. Bridge pose. Lying on your back. Bend knees and place feet on mat, hip distance apart. Lift the pelvis up into the air by rolling slightly onto each shoulder.

Standing Side Stretch (Ardha Chandrasana I)
The Standing Side Stretch is another pose with two lines of energy radiating outward from your center.

To get a feel of pada bandha try single leg balancing poses such as ardha chandrasana, Nataraja, or especially warrior III where the foot "cups" the earth.

- In the Vâyu-purâna are the Rudras named: Ajaikapad, Ahir-budhnya, Hara, Nirrita, Îs'vara, Bhuvana, Añgâraka, Ardha-ketu, Mrityu, Sarp and Kapâlin.

Finally, after 8 weeks, come half-Sirsasana (modified headstand with feet on the ground), Salabhasana (locust), Vyghrasana (cat), Dhanurasana (bow), Ardha-matsyendrasana (simple twist).
