Aryans

Yoga ArthaAsamprajnata

Aryans: The migrant invaders of India from approximately 1500 b.c; people of spiritual values.
Asampranjata: The highest super-conscious state where the mind is completely stilled and Reality is experienced.

The Indo-aryans have borrowed the theory of re-birth after coming in contact with the aboriginal inhabitants of India. Certainly Jainism and non-vedics [..] accepted the doctrine of rebirth as supreme postulate or article of faith.' Masih, page 37.

So conscious were the ancient civilizations like the Aryans of Nature's divinity that their interaction with the environment (both outer and inner) was ethically and morally perfect.

The Vedas, which are the oldest written tradition in India, (2,000 - 600 B.C.) were written largely by the Indo-European invaders of India, known as the Aryans.

A major shift from oral to written tradition began with the arrival of the Aryans in India shortly after 2000 B.C. The Aryans developed the language of Sanskrit and it later became the canonical language of Hindu scriptures.

The highest authority among the Aryans of India/ four ancient texts- Rig, Yajur, Sama, Atharva, which are further divided into Samhita, Brahmana, Aranayaka and Upanishads.

The references to yoga are available in 'Upanishads' and 'Puranas' composed by Indian Aryans in the later Vedic and post- Vedic period. The main credit for systematizing yoga goes to Patanjali who wrote 'Yoga Sutra', two thousand Years ago.

While this could be called "Aryan", it is not the Aryans of the outdated Aryan invasion theory, but would likely be the Vedic culture. It is interesting to note that the Greeks had a serpent god known as Ophiucus, who was the god of medicine.
