Bhastrika pranayama
Bhastrika pranayama - Bellows in English; gets the name from being similar to an iron smith's bellows and how they sound and the way they force air onto a fire or furnace to make it heat up hot and fast.

Bhastrika Pranayama mp3
In Bhastrika pranayama the air is exhaled and inhaled fast and forcefully. Energy is drawn from the Manipuraka or Navel Chakra during exhalation. This creates a sound similar to the bellows when they are used.
Instructions ...

Bhastrika pranayama
'bellows' breathing technique in which the breath is forcibly drawn in and out through the nose in equal proportions, like the pumping action of the bellows.
Bhramara vedha ...

Bhastrika Pranayama
Sit in any comfortable asana (pose), like crossed leg on the floor, with spine straight. Close the mouth. Inhale and exhale quickly, like bellows of a blacksmith. There will be dilating and contracting of the chest.

Bhastrika pranayama was taught to increase metabolic activity, tone and detoxify the liver, to eliminate secretions from the lungs and to strengthen respiratory functions through the action of the diaphragm.

Bhastrika Pranayama is a panacea for the health of the mind and the heart. Sit on the folded legs with the spinal column straight. Thereafter without movement of the body or the shoulders and with no tension on the face, breathe in and out rapidly.

In winter practise Bhastrika Pranayama and in summer Sitali and Sitkari.
Mild practice Of Pranayama needs no dietetic regulation or any particular condition of living.

Those who can do Bhastrika Pranayama can easily do this. In Bhastrika there is a Kumbhaka (retention of breath) for a long time at the end of the required rounds. But in Kapalabhati there is no Kumbhaka.

By the practice of Kapalabhati and Bhastrika Pranayamas and deep breathing exercises, these apices get good supply of oxygen and thus phthisis is obviated. Pranayama develops the lungs.
