Introduction :
The process of kapalbhati is related to the breathing process, however it is not a type of pranayam.

Kapalbhati has a remarkable effect as a de-stressing tool and clearing the mind of negative emotions. In fact, the Sanskrit words "Kapal" means the skull and "bhati" means polishing / shining.

KAPALBHATI
Kapal means forehead and bhati means shining. By performing Kapalbhati the forehead assumes shining lustre.

Kapalabhati
'Kapala' is a Sanskrit word; it means skull. 'Bhati' means to shine. The term 'Kapalabhati' means an exercise that makes the skull shine. This Kriya cleanses the skull.

Kapalabhati is an exercise for the purification of skull and lungs. Though this is one of the Shat-Karmas (six purificatory exercises), yet it is a variety of Pranayama exercises.

If this is a chronic condition practice Kapalabhati pranayama during times when there are no sysmptoms. If there are symptoms of constipation, acid reflux, and burning Sit Cari and Shitali Pranayamas can be practiced.

However, Kapalabhati Nauli can be done every day. They are generally most suited for people in age group of twenty to sixty years. Relaxation is necessary for all, irrespective of age.
