Buddha: lit. "the Enlightened One." The founder of Buddhism.
buddhi: The determinative faculty of the mind that makes decisions; sometimes translated as "intellect." Another translation is the higher mind, or wisdom.

Buddha ("awakened"): a designation of the person who has attained enlightenment (bodhi) and therefore inner freedom; honorific title of Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, who lived in the sixth century B.C.E.

Buddha
("awakened"): One who is totally purified from all defilements ; the person who has attained enlightenment (bodhi) and therefore inner freedom; and who has realized all that can be known.
Buddhi ("she who is conscious, awake") ...

Buddha means enlightened.

To divert Gautam Buddha from renouncing the world, his father the king called upon the most beautiful and accomplished courtesan to dance before him.

BODHISATTVA: A being who, having developed the Awakening Mind (a mind infused with the aspiration to attain the state of Buddhahood), devotes his life to the task of achieving Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings.

So such authentic teachers act as surrogates (such as the Adi Buddha, sat guru, kundalini, siva/shakti, the Mother/Father, or just plain Grace) for the eternal trans-personal teachings which are adjusted as to time and place, language, culture, ...

It should be noted that deities such as Tara do appear in several forms of Buddhism, and the image of the Buddha is used in almost all, if not all systems of Buddhism.

It may be Lord Rama, Krishna, Christ, Mohammed, Buddha etc. It may be a Guru for his disciples.
Important thing is the person interested in following this path should have very strong emotional bond with the object of faith.

Yoga isn't just for your bendy buddy and Buddha wannabes. In fact, taking a single weekly yoga class or doing 15 minutes of yoga poses after every bike ride will make you a stronger, faster cyclist.
