Chit means knowledge, or consciousness, pure and absolute.
Ananda means bliss, pure and absolute.

Chit ("consciousness"): the superconscious ultimate Reality.
Chitta ("that which is conscious"): ordinary consciousness, the mind.

cit or chit: lit. "consciousness" or "awareness." Philosophically, pure awareness; transcendent consciousness, as in Sat-chit-ananda. In mundane usage, chit means perception; consciousness.

Chit is the world of sentient beings, or of entities possessing consciousness. It is similar to the Purusha of Samkhya system.

Chit - Knowledge.
Chitta - Consciousness.

Chit - knowingness
Consciousness - the state of being conscious; awareness of one's own existence, sensations, thoughts, surroundings, etc.

So in this state of deep sleep we existed as Pure Consciousness; Sat-Chit-Ananda was our real nature in the state of deep sleep.

For Shankara, this Self (atman) is sat-chit-ananda, being or existence, consciousness or cognition, and unqualified bliss.

This Centre (Kendra) of Power is a gross form of Chit or Consciousness; that is, in itself (Svarupa), it is Consciousness; and by appearance it is a Power which, as the highest form of Force, is a manifestation of it.

Chit is the Sanskrit word for consciousness, and Shakti is the Sanskrit word power. Consciousness in which energy is inherent, not merely latent but inherent, was called chitshakti. Masters of yoga saw these two as non-different and indivisible.

Thus maintaining this bhava while focusing on asana -- as the merger of shiva/shakti and the chit-prana is most fortuitous.

The shastras, or traditional scriptures, state that the name of the spirit is satchidananda, which is made up from the words 'sat', 'chit' and 'ananda'.

Brahmam is indescribable with dazzling light and everything emanated from it. It is truth, pure light that is Sath, Chit, that is Intelligence and Ananda or pleasure. This is to be read on the macro level.

A plan which will ultimately lead us to spiritual emancipation and realization of our oneness with That which is "Sat Chit Ananda"-Consciousness, Bliss Absolute-of which all sentient beings are a divine spark.
