Vedanta: The system of Indian philosophy that forms the basis of most modern forms of Hinduism. The term Vedanta in Sanskrit means the "conclusion". Its source is the Upanishads which are the conclusion of the Veda.

In Vedanta, you will find the word "tanmatra. " It expresses a theory which is rather difficult and complicated to explain. In brief, the tanmatra is the word for the basic element. The tanmatra is as yet undifferentiated, and so it cannot be seen.

Within the Vedanta, Yogic, Vedic and Shaivite systems we see a merging of terms that clearly describes the kundalini concealment. Maya becomes a common term and is one of the 36 tattvas of Shaivite religious teachings.

What is yoga:
A systematic scientific process of self unfoldment.

You will find in Vedanta Sutras: For the same reason, breath is Brahman. Prana is the sum total of all energy that is manifest in the universe. It is the sum total of all the forces in nature.

About a century and a half after Ramanuja, Madhava promulgated a dualistic (dvaita) Vedanta, in which he taught that brahman, selves and the world are separate and eternal, even though the latter two depend forever upon the first.

The Upanishadic part of Vedic literature is known as Vedanta. In order to place the doctrines of the Upanishad in an organized form, Rishi Badarayana composed the Brahmasutra.

Fifteen hundred years later Advaita Vedanta refined these five selves into the koshas, the five sheaths or coverings that veil the light of our True Self (Atman).
