This more difficult pose must be attempted only by experienced students of yoga. The aim, in the advanced asana, is to raise your feet straight up and then lower them over your head.

 


This is a difficult pose, so it may not be possible to touch the floor in the beginning. Gradually as the legs become more elastic and the back gets stronger, the legs will touch and then rest on the floor without loss of the head balance.

Shavasana, in spite of its' passive appearance is one of the most difficult poses to master. To put the mind and the body in a state of deep relaxation takes practice. It is important to allow this time for relaxation and nothing else.

Mastery of these easy poses will make the more difficult poses easy. Most of all, learn to enjoy your practice. The significance of everything I have put down will become apparent only as you spend private time with your own practice.

During a long hold of a difficult pose, Folan will ask, "Do you still love me?" which usually gets people smiling. "A genuine smile can help you connect to your bliss body," she says.

See the Divine in the fact that my most difficult poses are actually my best teachers? Be patient and let the poses come to me at their own pace, instead pursuing them relentlessly like a mountain to be conquered?

One possible result of playing your edge is that you might find yourself practicing increasingly difficult poses.

You can work standing poses into your practice any time in combination with other poses, or as a warmup for more difficult poses. I actually love standing poses and rarely a day goes by when I don't do at least a few of them.

This standing poses may enhance concentration.[5]A difficult pose often practiced near the end of a sequence of standing poses. It focuses on the ankles, calves, thighs, hips and shoulders.

The best time to go is when there is a period of rest, either in Child's Pose or Downward Dog. You will not earn your teacher's respect if you routinely dodge out during difficult poses or skip part of Savasana.
