If the three doshas i e vat, pitta and kapha are equalised, then their functions support each other and the body remains healthy. The proportion of each dosha to the desired extent is known as doshasamya.

For vata dosha: A vata reducing food plan is important for this condition. Ayurvedic practitioners may wish to have clients keep a daily food log to review actual trends vata aggravating foods.

The goal of these practices is to purge out excesses in order to bring the three doshas (physical constitutions) into balance. If the doshas are already in balance, then it is recommended to not practice these intense cleansing practices.
