Hamsa Gayatri can be used as a form of Bhakti yoga, with paramahamsa (soul) functioning as deity (Devata). The bija mantra of Hamsa is 'Ham', which can be used as a powerful form of japa (repetition) itself.

According to the commentator Vyas, self-education or swadhyaya consists of scriptural studies. The scripture being, the Vedas and Upanishads together with the recitation of the Gayatri Mantra and the Om mantra.
Now it is time that the true nature of the havan is understood to benefit humanity with its pure, true purpose. Even if all the mantras are not known chanting ÕOM' or the GAYATRI MANTRA can suffice.
