Grihastha: â s' r a m a of the married. - Spiritual department relating to the life of a householder living according the scriptures.
Grihastha: A person at the second of the four stages of life, the stage of the householder. Gunam: Inner beauty.
Grihastha sannyasa, which I prefer to call karma sannyasa, is not a new order which I am introducing. It is very old. There are four traditional ashramas: brahmacharyashram, grihasthashram, vanaprasthashram and sannyasashram.
Grihastha is from the age 21 to about 42. This is the main householder period that involves development of a career, having a family, and social responsibilities.

Every Brahmachari, and every Grihastha also, has to practise it three times every day morning, noon and evening in his daily worship during Sandhya. It precedes every religious practice of the Hindus.
A Sannyasin cannot touch the feet of a Grihastha, for instance. A Sannyasin cannot prostrate himself before a householder. It was all forbidden and regarded as heresy. Swamiji was just the opposite of it.
During the sannyasa phase of life, a person may be said to abandon fire (Agnihotra, allowed to the householder stage of life, the Grihastha ashram).
Therefore, the advanced Grihastha-students will have to stop all worldly activities.
