Japa Yoga is the yoga of mindful recitation. It can also be described as repetitive prayer.
In Japa Yoga, certain mantras (such as om) or a name of God are repeated in accordance with specific rules.

Japa yoga: a compilation of lectures delivered by : Paramhans Satyananda Saraswati to the students of International Yoga Teachers' Training Course from July 1, 1967 to March 31, 1968 at the Bihar School of Yoga, Monghyr, (Bihar), India.

In his book called Japa Yoga, Swami Sivananda mentions that the constant repetition of a mantra, like "Om Namah Sivaya," can effect change in molecular structure.
