Kundalini Yoga system is remarkably different than most of the religious systems of the world. Most of the religious traditions look forward to maintaining celibacy to attain spiritual growth.

 


Kundalini yoga is sometimes considered a distinct yoga although it generally involves a combination of: raja, hatha, tantra, laya and mantra yogas.

The goal of Kundalini yoga and all spiritual technologies is to create a conscious connection with the Divine. Yoga means union. The union is between our physical reality and god-consciousness, universal energies and our soul.

Kundalini Yoga is relatively new to the United States, having been introduced to the West Coast in 1969 when Harbhajan Singh Yogi arrived from India and began training teachers (Sat Bachan Kaur Karla Becker, 2004).

Kundalini Yoga is that Yoga which treats of Kundalini Sakti, the six centres of spiritual energy (Shat Chakras), the arousing of the sleeping Kundalini Sakti and its union with Lord Siva in Sahasrara Chakra, at the crown of the head.

KUNDALINI YOGA
A Kundalini yoga class is a dynamic practice incorporating breathing techniques, chanting, mantras (sacred sounds that empower the mind), and kriyas (action or ritual of energetics).

Kundalini yoga is often associated with Tantric yoga. A variety of explanations are provided for the meaning of the word, ranging from literally meaning serpent or snake to a verbal root meaning "coiled".

Kundalini Yoga: the path of energy, arousing the energy stored in the chakras through breathing and movement.
Raja Yoga: the path of meditation, controlling the mind from wandering and obtaining mastery over thought.

Again, Raja Yoga has been divided into three more subdivisions known as Mantra Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Hatha Yoga.
