Lingota ...

[edit] Lingam
A Shiva Lingam worshipped at Jambukesvara temple in Thiruvanaikaval (Thiruaanaikaa)
Main article: Lingam ...

Shiva lingam, standing Christ, flickering candle, weeping willow tree, dead body, coloured clouds gathering, starlit night, full moon, setting sun, golden spider web, cross over a church, cold winter's day, temple bell ringing, monk with shaven head, ...

Lingam also refers to the oval shaped light that resides in the cave of the heart. In an external sense, it also refers to the shiva lingam. Symbolically, the shape of the individual soul is said to be like a lingam.

So is the case with everyone who is able to imbibe within them the potential cosmic stuff appearing as a little, tiny object, a kind of murthi, a lingam, a pattern, something that you are worshipping in your temple, in your pujya room.

Hence, pure consciousness (lingamatra), which is the simple, unqualified sense of 'I', subsists in a pristine noumenal condition (alinga) wherein it does not witness the ceaseless operation of the gunas.

The best known form of this would be the spatika lingam, or crystal lingam.

Vajroli is simply the constriction of the urethral muscles in the lingam -- the same muscles used to cut off the flow of urine. This mudra strongly influences the nadis that supply the sex organs with spiritual energy.

Here it is noteworthy that in yogic literature, the goddess kundalini is pictured as lying dormant in the muladhara chakra in the form of a serpent coiled three and a half times around a lingam.

Deities can be three-dimensional statues or murties, or two-dimensional pictures or drawings. Abstract symbols of God include geometrical representations such as yantras, the saligram (form of Vishnu), or Siva lingam.
