Manipura Chakra
Manipura is the third Chakra from the Muladhara. It is located within the Sushumna Nadi, in the Nabhi Sthana (region of navel). This has its corresponding centre in the physical body and has control over the liver, stomach, etc.

Manipura or manipuraka is symbolised by a downward pointing triangle with ten petals. The seed syllable is Ram, and the presiding deity is Braddha Rudra, with Lakini as the Shakti.

Manipura is the centre of heat in the body, and according to many it is the main reservoir of prana. It is associated with the vital heat, the fire of digestion, energy. Its element is fire. Its colour is bright yellow and it has ten petals.

In Manipura, our fire (spiritual heat) is stimulated. We "jump-start" the battery of the body, the physical storehouse of energy, through strong standing poses like The Warrior. The willful aspect of the practice is also associated with chakra three.

Chakra 3: Manipura Chakra
The third Chakra, Manipura (lustrous gem), is located at the solar plexus (between belly button and bottom of rib cage). Its color is yellow and its issues are personal power, self esteem, willfulness and energy.

After the manipura chakra is washed thoroughly and opened (after nauli kriya and agnisara dhauti are mastered) then the pranayama practices are easily accomplished.

Above the svadhisthana, in the navel region is the center known as the manipura. It is of the dark color of a rain cloud. In its ten petals are found the letters dam, dham, nam tam, tham dam, dham, nam, pam, and pham.

This practice will get you in touch with the manipura chakra, which governs the navel and solar plexus area.

The practice is so-called because the anal contraction resembles the movement a horse makes with its sphincter immediately after evacuation of the bowels. This is a very powerful technique to pump the energy up into Manipura.
