Murti

Yoga MuniNabho mudra

Murti: A representation of God or deity that has been sanctified by worship. A murti can be symbolic; a recognizable human figure, as in the image of a saint.

MURTI:
(lit., embodiment; figure; image) A representation of God or of a chosen deity that has been sanctified and enlivened by worship.

Over the three centuries following the death of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition evolved into the form in which we largely find it today in contemporary India.

Swami Sivamurti from Greece organized for us to be invited. Originally she had wanted Mario and her guru to meet and the idea of celebrating the Cosmic Mass was her way to get the two of them together.

Worship of murtis includes puja, worship with flowers, arati, homa, worship with fire, etc. More advanced forms of worship include reciting mantras, offering prayers, mental worship, and meditation on the Absolute form of God.

The Trinity, like religion itself, originated from India where it was called 'Trimurti' . Hindus call the Absolute Being ' Brahman ' The Son, as the creative force of cosmic vibration, is called ' Vishnu' .

We say Bhagavan is Karuna-Sagara, Kripa-Murti and so on. He is the ocean of compassion. He is more tender than a mother. But when necessity arises, He is hard like a diamond. The saints are like that.

jagad avyakta-murtina
mat-sthani sarva-bhutani
na caham tesv avasthitah" ...

The spiritual teacher and philosopher J. Krishnamurti often wrote and spoke of the importance of feeling and looking at our own death, and of letting our contemplation lead us to love and compassion.

Breathing exercises are suggested to overcome obstacles and diseases, and to keep mindstuff calm and serene so that it becomes stable in concentration.

Trevor Leggett places the date closer to 600 CE based on a commentary to the Yoga-bhasya published in Sanskrit in 1952 in the Madras Government Oriental Series #94 by Polakam Sri Rama Sastri and S. R. Krishnamurti Sastri.

MUNI: An ascetic.
