In Yoga, the three main channels of prana are the Ida, the Pingala and the Sushumna.

Nadis
Nadis are located in the astral body and carry the prana. Sometimes they are referred to as astral tubes. There are 72,000 nadis in the astral body and generally they correspond with the nerves of the physical body.

Nadis
Nadis are astral tubes made up of astral matter that carry Pranic currents. They can be seen by the astral eyes only. They are not the nerves. They are 72,000 in number. Ida, Pingala and Sushumna are the important ones.

Other Nadis
Gandhari, Hastajihva, Kuhu, Sarasvati, Pusha, Sankhini, Payasvini, Varuni, Alambusha, Vishvodhara, Yasasvini, etc., are some other important Nadis. These have their origin in Kanda.

Nadis are the astral tubes made up of astral matter that carry psychic currents. The Sanskrit term 'Nadi' comes from the root 'Nad' which means 'motion'.

NADISHODHANA PRANAYAMA
The meaning of word Nadishodhana is purification or cleaning of the Nadis (blood vessels). This covers group of blood vessels pertaining to body as well as heart.

The term NadiSodhana refers to cleansing the energy lines (Nādīs) and nerves.

Once the nadis are opened and basic inner wisdom, intuition, instinct, and innate awareness has become restored, it the dance dances itself.

How many nadis are there? Some have suggested that there are seventy-two thousand nadis. Others put the count at three hundred and fifty thousand. The nadi being sheer energy in motion, I doubt if there is any way to determine how many there are.

Nadis: In Yogic theory there are about 72,000 nadis or subtle tubes in the astral body. They equate to the acupuncture meridians.

The answer given is that the number of petals in any Chakra is determined by the number and position of the Nadis or Yoga-nerves around that Chakra.

Prana is our life force or energy that flows through the channels or nadis in our electromagnetic body (referred to as chi in martial arts).

Prana travels through thousands of tiny channels called nadis to every cell in the body. The three main nadis in the body are the ida, pingala and sushumna, which all start at the base of the spine and travel upwards to the head.

Hatha means balance of Ida and Pingala Nadis, or balancing of mental energy of Ida and Vital / physical energy of Pingala Nadi.

Energy (prana) is said to flow in the human body through three main channels (nadis), namely, Susumna, Pingala and Ida. Susumna is situated inside the spinal column.

Our bodies are described in Kundalini Yoga as having subtle currents or nadis - the left side being ida, (moon, cool, receptive), the right side being pingala (warm, sun, active).

As his consciousness turned inward, he could clearly perceive the currents of the life force traveling along the invisible pathways that the yogis call nadis.
