Jala neti is a process of cleansing the nasal passages with salt water. This allows free breathing so that air can enter the lungs unimpeded by mucus and dirt which easily builds up during the day.

Neti
Take a thin thread 12 fingers long (1/2 cubit) without knots. Insert it into the nostrils and passing it inside draw it out by the mouth. You can also pass the thread through one nostril and pull it through the other.

3. Neti
Neti' exercise is intended for the purification of the nostrils. The nostrils must be kept always clean. Unclean nostrils will lead you to irregular breathing. Irregular breathing will make you sick.

Neti, Dhauti, Basti, Nauli, Asanas, Mudras, etc., keep the body healthy and strong, and under perfect control. But they are not the be-all and end-all of Yoga. These Kriyas will help you in your practice of Dhyana.

Out of the six shuddhikriyas, the shuddikriya for the cleaning of the nasal path is known as neti. The aim of the process is to purify the breathing path right from the nostrils to the throat.

The third type of practice is called neti. In neti, you feed a soft cloth through your nose, down the throat, and out the mouth. It is fairly easy to do, and can be helpful if you have nasal problems.

Besides, the eyes could be endowed with better sight by performance of Jala neti process. It is very essential to sneeze out 40-50 times all the water from the nostrils after performance of Jala neti.

My experience, too is that alternate breathing blocks my nasal passages, and I use a neti pot almost everyday.
