Paramatman is one of the aspects of Brahman. Paramatman is situated at the core of every individual jiva in the macrocosm. The Upanishads compare Atman and Paramatman to two birds sitting like friends on the branch of a tree (body).

The Absorption In Paramatman

As, according to Vedanta, the latter proposition is affirmed, Yoga is that process by which the identity of the two (Jivatman and Paramatman)"which identity ever exists, in fact"is realised by the Yogin or practitioner of Yoga.
The second shakti of the Paramatman or supreme consciousness is Lakshmi or Padma Devi. She is of the nature of pure or shuddha sattwa, which is higher than sattwa, and is the presiding deity of all wealth and prosperity.
When a perfect union takes place between Prana and Apana, Manas and Buddhi or Jivatman and Paramatman without opposition, it is called Ghata Avastha. He may now practise only for about one-fourth of the period prescribed for the practice before.
It is God speaking within the deepest possibility of the human being, the Atman, which is nothing but the Paramatman localized in human circumstance. A universal Paramatman engaged, as it were, within the locality of the human body is Atman.

Ans: The word Yog comes from Sanskrit verb "Yuj" which means to join. Here we mean to join the Atma Tattva (Soul) with Paramatma Tattva (God).
