The second Konasana posture entails the same exercise with the stretching of the arm from under the armpit to its full length above keeping it close to the respective ear, palms inward.

Hence holding asana posture for long periods of time certainly is not the goal. We can ask if it is helpful at all? Many indeed claim that it may be an effective means for self cultivation and liberation.

The physical posture that is recommended, therefore, is siddhasana, because it is thought the best for sealing off the lower apertures. If you cannot do siddhasana, sit in padmasana.
