Pranava can be a reference to a boat that carries us across the ocean of birth and reincarnation. It can also mean to "roar", sound, or reverberate. The word pranava comes from the Sanskrit root "nu", which means to praise.

The Gita also heavily incorporates the yogic philosophies of karma, dharma, reincarnation, atman, brahman, maya and moksha within Krishna’s responses to Arjuna’s dilemma.

In Bhagavad Gita, the aim of Yoga is to stop the course of reincarnation. This can be stopped when the soul had realized the reality and this can be done through this 3 stages; Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan.

This instruction culminates in the story of life its tribulations and the reality of reincarnation with the character of P u r a ñ j a n a who lived in the city of nine gates as an analogy to the soul inhabiting the body (see 4.24-29).

As the air takes away the aroma from the source (or flower), similarly Atma takes the six sensory faculties from the physical body it casts off (during death) to the (new physical) body it acquires (in reincarnation by the power of Karma).

Everyone also has a causal body. The causal body exists within the astral and physical bodies, but is still larger and more subtle than the astral body. It carries the seed state of the individual from one reincarnation to the next.

" For these reasons, many people feel they can practice Yoga without conflict with their religious beliefs. However, Yoga is connected to the Hindu tradition and draws on many Hindu beliefs -- karma, dharma, reincarnation, Atman, etc.
