sadhaka (Sanskrit word meaning "practitioner"): a meditator who treads the path of spirituality.
sadhana (Sanskrit word meaning "means of realization"): sincere spiritual endeavor.
sadhu (Sanskrit word meaning "virtuous"): literally, a saintly person.

 


SADHAKA: Spiritual aspirant.

SADHU: Pious man; Sannyasin.
SAGARA: Ocean.
SAHASRANAMA: The thousand Names of the Lord.
SAKSHI: Witness.
SAKTI: Power; the feminine aspect of Divinity.

Sadhaka - An aspirant devoted to the practice of spiritual discipline.
Sadhana - Spiritual discipline.
Sadhu - A holy man, ascetic, or monk.

sadhaka (Sadhak) one who is getting or trying to get realisation [cf. yogin]; one who seeks siddhi by the practice of sadhana.
sadhana the practice of yoga; the practice by which perfection (siddhi) is attained; spiritual self-training and exercise.

Sadhakas often come to me and complain of lack of faith, I tell them, "Do not worry. Do sadhana. It is precisely lo induce faith that sadhana is prescribed." There is no place in spirituality for doubters. Doubters cannot progress.

SADHAKA: Spiritual aspirant.
SADHANA: Spiritual practice.
SADHU: Pious man; Sannyasin.
SAHASRANAMA: The thousand Names of the Lord.
SAKTI: Power; the feminine aspect of Divinity.
SAKTI-SANCHAR: Transference of power by a developed Yogi.

Sadhakas and sadhikas (of all generations) prescribe various benign and horrific qualities to Devi simply out of practicality.

This is a student who strives for a goal.

SADHAKA:
A seeker on the spiritual path.
SADHANA:
1) A spiritual discipline or path. 2) Practices, both physical and mental, on the spiritual path.

Sadhakas who take up to Nivritti Marga generally become lazy after some time, as they do not know how to utilise the mental energy, as they do not keep up any daily routine and as they do not follow the instructions of their Guru.

Sadhakas should develop the following virtuous qualities:
Straightforwardness, service to Guru, the sick and old persons, Ahimsa, Brahmacharya, spontaneous generosity, Titiksha, Sama Drishti, Samata, spirit of service, selflessness, tolerance, ...

A Sadhaka has to avoid all these three types. We have discussed, in length, the krta (direct) type of violence. Let us now see the karita and anumodita types.

Each day the sadhaka (seeker or aspirant) dedicates her practice to her mother or grandmother(s), or even to the concept of motherhood or mother earth. Each sadhaka has a personal approach to her sadhana.

Through the abundant intake of oxygen by its disciplined techniques, subtle chemical changes take place in the sadhaka's body.

  May she continue to shine the light of her knowledge and tapas like a beacon for Western sadhakas for many years to come.
