Salabha Asana

Yoga Sakti-sancharSalabhasana

Full Salabha Asana
Position of readiness:
Lie face down on the floor on your stomach, hands stretched backwards close to the thighs and the legs straight.

SALABHA ASANA (THE LOCUST POSTURE)
Salabha Asana is a reverse posture to the Cobra Posture, which gives a backward bend to the spine. Values of certain asanas are maximised when done one after the other.

Salabha Asana is reverse of bhujanga asana which activates all the organs of lower body.
6. Sarvanga Asana means posture for whole body. In his posture, the body's full weight rests on the shoulders.

Dhanur, Bhujanga and Salabha Asanas are counter-poses to bend the spine backwards. This is not sufficient. It must be twisted and bent from side to side also (lateral movements). Then only perfect elasticity of the spinal column can be ensured.
