The peacock is the emblem of the Indian Goddess of the Arts, Saraswati. Like the goddess, the peacock is both beautiful and fierce. Most of the time the peacock walks with his beautiful fan of feathers dragging behind him on the ground.
So, in a way, we worship God Himself when we worship Bhagavati Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and principally Lakshmi on an occasion of this kind, the lighting up of the atmosphere on this occasion with a series of illuminating lamps.
Bringing it closer to home, Saraswati, the goddess whose vehicle is the swan, is also the Devi (power) of Speech. What do I emanate out with every breath? Thoughts vibrate out as shimmering or darkening.
It would seem altogether superfluous to try to introduce Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati to a reading public, thirsting for spiritual regeneration.
The most important result of shaking the Saraswati Nadi is that it cures the several diseases arising within the belly, and cleanses and purifies the system.
