Sat-Chit-Ananda Brahman
Although Brahman is beyond description, the Rishis (seers or sages) of yore declared, based on their personal experience, that it can best be described as sat-chit-ananda.
Sat means existence pure and absolute.

 


Sat-chit-ananda - existence-knowledge-bliss
Satsang - a session of devotional singing, chanting, and/or meditation
Sattva - one of the three qualities of nature (gunas); it manifests as balance, purity, calmness ...

So in this state of deep sleep we existed as Pure Consciousness; Sat-Chit-Ananda was our real nature in the state of deep sleep.

For Shankara, this Self (atman) is sat-chit-ananda, being or existence, consciousness or cognition, and unqualified bliss.

destroyed is ignorance about one's real nature, and this ignorance cannot be destroyed either by study, or by Pranayama, or by work, or by any amount of physical twisting and torturing, but only by knowing one's real nature, which is Sat-Chit-Ananda ...

cit or chit: lit. "consciousness" or "awareness." Philosophically, pure awareness; transcendent consciousness, as in Sat-chit-ananda. In mundane usage, chit means perception; consciousness.

Brahman - Godhead. The Absolute, the Supreme Reality, the Ultimate Reality, Truth or the Self of the Vedanta Philosophy are also used interchangeably for Brahman; See Sat-Chit-Ananda.

Through the action of a fourth dimension, Supermind (i.e. Truth Consciousness), the Force (Chit) of Sat-Chit-Ananda was divided into Knowledge and Will, eventually formulating as an invisible Energy that would become the source of creation.

Then the corresponding mental/emotional and spiritual realms are known (the lokas). Through this self knowledge, man becomes liberated from ignorance and knows reality as it is in sat-chit-ananda - the unification of pure subjective reality, ...
