Shaivas or Shaivites
This group personifies consciousness in the form of Lord Shiva who is the substratum from which the manifested world arises by the action of Shakti. It tends towards renunciation.

The teaching came from the Shaiva Tantras, a group of sophisticated and relatively modern yogic texts that appeared in Northern India around the ninth century and remained relatively secret until about 50 years ago.

In South India, Bhakti-Yoga was promulgated during this period by the Vaishnava Âlvârs and the Shaiva Nâyanmârs.

Bhakti-Yoga: The collective discipline of love and devotion that is extolled in the Bhagavad-Gîtâ, the Bhâgavata-Purâna, and in the scriptures of the Vaishnavas and Shaivas.
