Siddhars are saints in India, mostly of the Saivaite denomination in Tamil Nadu, who professed and practised an unorthodox type of Sadhana, or spiritual practice, to attain liberation.

 


Siddha-asana
The Accomplished or Adept Pose
Translation:
The Sanskrit word siddha means accomplished or adept, one who has attained the highest.

Siddha Yoga meditation teaches that the goal of life is to discover and fully experience the inner Self, the divine Consciousness that is our true nature.

Siddhasana is the posture which is recommended by Dr. Christian Barnard, the heart transplant surgeon, to stabilize cardiac function in his patients.

Siddha yoga is a new religious movement based in part on the Hindu spiritual traditions of Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism.

Siddha Siddhanta, or the Gorakshanatha Shaivism was generally considered as belonging to the lineage of the first ascetic orders of India.

SIDDHA GURU: One who has attained the state of enlightenment and who has the capacity to awaken the dormant spiritual energy of a disciple and guide him or her to the state of the Truth.

Perfect Pose, Accomplished Pose (Siddhasana)
One of the most popular meditation postures is Siddhasana. The Sanskrit name means "Perfect Pose," because one attains perfection in Yoga by meditating in this position.

Siddha means an adept in Sanskrit. Since great adepts used this asana, it bears the name Siddhasan. Siddhas (perfected Yogis) speak very highly of this asana.

SIDDHASANA
The neck is to be bent a little for achieving this bandh. But it should not be bent much. It is to be pressed onto the depression just as a spring is pressed with a little force.

Siddha Yoga
Under the guidance and teachings of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, Siddha Yoga meditation students embrace the spiritual practices of yoga.

Siddha yogis believe that Gurumayi, as a guru in the Siddha Yoga lineage, has the ability to awaken her followers to their own inherent potential for enlightenment, a transmission called shaktipat.

Siddhasana: This is also equally recommended just like Padmasana but is most useful to those who go for advanced spiritual practice. This asana gives one ability and poise to conserve one's energy in celibacy.

Siddhasana
Explanation: It's similar to Swastikasana, but with a little difference. It's a pure meditative asana and has more benefits than Swastikasana. For women this asana is called Siddha Yoni Asana.

3. Svastikasana (Prosperous Pose)
Svastikasana is sitting at ease with the body erect. Spread the legs forward. Fold the left leg and place the foot near the right thigh muscles.

Develop the power of endurance (Titiksha), learn to bear happiness and misery evenly and to pass through all phases of life, all experiences.

(b) Siddha asana. This asana is considered best for attainment of extra sensory perceptions. Straighten both the legs. Bring the left heel under the perineum.

Buddha: born Siddhartha Gautama around 563 B.C. in Kapilvastu (an Indian province at that time, now in Nepal) in a royal family. At age 30, he left a life of luxury to seek how to end human suffering.

Perfect Pose--Siddhasana
Press the muladhara (base of spine) chakra with your left heel. Then press the svadhisthana (pelvic plexus) chakra with your right heel.

Sit (padmasana, siddhasana siddha yoni asana) comfortably with your spine erect.
Take a few deep breaths and relax - allow for a free flow of breath.
Inhale and allow your belly to expand.

Buddha: The Awakened One - The honorary title of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism who lived in the sixth century B.C. The name is also given to those who achieve true enlightenment and as a result, inner freedom.

You might have been angels, you might have been a Gabriel or a Michael, you might have been an Indra or a Brihaspati, you might have been a Gana of Rudra or in Vaikuntha, a Parshada of Lord Visnu; you might have been a Siddha in Indraloka or ...

The physical posture that is recommended, therefore, is siddhasana, because it is thought the best for sealing off the lower apertures. If you cannot do siddhasana, sit in padmasana. The yogi then seals off all the upper apertures.

This Pranayama is very easy if you can sit in Padmasana, Siddhasana, Vajrasana or Sukhasana - that is with normal cross legs - keeping the back and spinal column erect; then it is the best.

" A Saivite Natha siddha who lived sometime between about 200 B.C.E. and 200 C.E., but the exact date is unknown.

To practice Jalandhara Bandha, come into a comfortable siddhasana or sukhasana cross-legged seated position with the palms facing down on top of the knees. Let the spine be long, the shoulders relaxed down and the sternum lifted.

Too, there are other classes of descended masters; the East Indians spoke of them as siddhas, isvarakotis, avatarans, or other already enlightened beings who seem to come to earth as if born for the purpose of being Sat Guru to many.

Sit on Padmasana (lotus pose), Siddhasana (adept's pose) or Sukhasana (any pose you like) for your Japa and meditation for half an hour, facing east or north. Increase the period gradually to three hours.

Healing, Samadhi, Kriya, Siddha, Tantra, Hatha
"Meditation is an art of independent thinking. One who meditates is one who thinks independently. Opponents of Eastern meditation are enemies of free and independent thinking.

The vira-asana is an alternative to the padma-asana, siddha-asana, as well as other seated postures, for mediation and pranayama.

If one has done 125,000 repetitions of the mantra on a mala, it becomes charged with energy (siddha), and by wearing it one gets energy from it. It is in fact the same energy one has put in it while doing the japa.
