Sitali Pranayama - Cooling breathing technique
This type of yoga breathing technique is done by sticking the tongue out and curling the tongue so that the sides touch each other.

 


Sitali (Tongue hissing)

During inhalation, curl up both edges of the tongue so that it forms a kind of tube. Breathe in through this tube. During inhalation the air passes over the moist tongue, cooling down and refreshing the throat.

Protrude the tongue a little away from the lips. Fold the tongue like a tube. Draw in the air through the mouth with the hissing sound Si. Retain the breath as long as you can hold on with comfort. Then exhale slowly through both nostrils.

Sitali Kumbhaka
30. Draw up the breath through the tongue with the hissing sound Sa. Retain it as before. Then slowly exhale through both the nostrils. This is called Sitali Kumbhaka.

2) Then alternate nostril breathing (nadis shuddhi), agni sara, kapalabhati, ujjayi, sitkari, sitali, and their variations are usually taught with their variations are taught. These are all very safe (as they are done without retention).
