Siva or Shiva - The Destroyer God; the Third of the Hindu Trinity, the other two being Brahma (Creator) and Vishnu (Preserver).

It is the one Siva who is the Supreme Blissful Experience and who appears in the form of man with a life of mingled pleasure and pain.

"I salute the primeval Lord (Siva) who taught (Parvati) the Hatha Yoga Vidya, which is as a stairway to those who wish to attain the lofty Raja Yoga." (I:1) "I salute the primeval Lord.

The story is as follows, that Lord Siva was teaching yoga to his consort, Parvati, as they sat near the ganges. A little fish in the river eavesdropped on the teachings that Siva was giving to Parvati and comprehended yoga.

Sahasrara Chakra is the abode of Lord Siva. This corresponds to Satya Loka. This is situated at the crown of the head. When Kundalini is united with Lord Siva at the Sahasrara Chakra, the Yogi enjoys the Supreme Bliss, Parama Ananda.

The masculine power is known to be Siva and Sakti for the females. They become the elemental source of power and energy when they are united.

On one of the hills overlooking the Farm is a beautiful Siva Temple, inaugurated by Swamiji in September, 1977. There is a small meditation pond filled with gold fish and lotus plants.

Vajroli mudra is described in the Siva Samhita, with two methods:
1. Sahajoli, where the yogi is able to restrain his ejaculation while still experiencing the bliss of orgasm;

The posture is also called Parangmukhi Mudra (facing inwards), Sambhavi Mudra (Sambhu is a name of Siva, father of Kartikeya. Hence, Sambhava is the progeny of Siva), also as Yoni Mudra. Yoni means the womb, the source.

It is where the kundalini is neither separate nor distinct from consciousness, or, in orthodox terminology, is "where shakti is not different from siva, but are at one." There is total at-one-ment in the sahasrara.

Then the Kundalini passes along the Six Chakras and eventually gets united with Lord Siva, seated on the Sahasrara or thousand-petalled lotus, at the crown of the head.
