Swami Sivananda Saraswati
Fear (bhaya) and raga (attachment) are modifications or vrittis in the mind. They are temporary whirlpools or waves. The substance of the mind is nothing but raga and fear. They are twin sisters.

Swami Sivananda Saraswati (September 8, 1887 - July 14, 1963) was a Hindu spiritual teacher and a proponent of Yoga and Vedanta. Sivananda was born Kuppuswami in Pattamadai, in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

Sivananda Yoga is based on the Hatha Yoga teachings of Swami Sivananda Saraswati and his disciple, Swami Vishnu-devananda. Sivananda Yoga focuses on the health of mind and body, as well as on spiritual development.

It would seem altogether superfluous to try to introduce Sri Swami Sivananda Saraswati to a reading public, thirsting for spiritual regeneration.

Swami Sivananda Saraswati - The great 20th century Master who authored over 200 books and brought yoga out to the whole world.

After taking these vows, Swami Sivananda Saraswati, as he would be known henceforth, started an extremely intense daily Sadhana (spiritual practices) and Tapas (austerities) for the next 10 years or so.
