Tamasic and rajasic behaviour is restricted and limiting. It does not allow the expansive-ness of the self to manifest. That is visible in our life.

tamasika (tamasic) [of the nature of tamas].
tamasikata [inertia, obscurity, ignorance].
tamoguna [the quality (guna) of tamas].

That which is tamasic is said to be heavy, dull, dark and inert. In this state we are expressing our darker nature and become harmful to others or ourselves.

Heavy food leads to Tamasic state and induces sleep only. There is a general misapprehension that a large quantity of food is necessary for health and strength. Much depends upon the power of assimilation and absorption.

Tamasic Foods: Foods that contribute to lethargy, laziness, and inactivity. They are thought to decrease motivation and purpose, and are associated with depression. Overeating is also considered tamasic.

It is also the celebration of the victory of the Sattvic or divine elements in us over the Rajasic and Tamasic or baser elements which are the real Asuras, the Rakshasas, Narakasura and others. The whole world is within us.

Often people comment on the onion, garlic, and ginger as being tamasic. While there is a tamasic quality to these three roots, the benefits from them are tremendous as far as physical health is concerned.

Static foods or tamasic foods are foods whose consumption, according to Yoga, are harmful to either mind or body. Harm to mind includes anything that will lead to a duller, less refined state of consciousness.

For some of us who are too passive, static, lethargic, tamasic, sleepy, sluggish, apathetic, heavy, cynical, disinterested, nihilistic, feel despair, caved in, and have given up responsibility and have disowned the body, nature, kundalini and life, ...

To reduce tamas avoid tamasic foods, over sleeping, over eating, inactivity, passivity and fearful situations. Tamasic foods include heavy meats, and foods that are spoiled, chemically treated, processed or refined.

There types of Bhakti are found in Vallabha tradition - Tamasic Bhakti, Rajasic Bhakti and Sattvic Bhakti.

In their purest form they are reserved for a very few highly-qualified aspirants, and the techniques must be taught by a tantric master. Many people in the west are attracted to this type of tantra, but unfortunately are practicing tamasic ...

Yoga does fun­damental work of maintaining humanness in a human being. If a human being has turned brutal it needs to help in pacifying the Tamasic attitude in a human being. Yoga converts Rajasik attitude to Sattvik attitude.
