Trishna - Craving. Triveni - The place where three holy rivers meet. Tushti - Satisfaction.
Shanti or peace is in that man who has given up mine-ness and I-ness, who has given up trishnas (desires, longing for objects). That man alone will have peace. Peace is not in a dark bungalow.
When this tendency to feel contented is adopted by the mind, the perpetual happiness is not far behind. In fact the root of happiness lies in this tendency of the mind. And the root cause of suffering is in Trishna (thirst).
This misapprehension is called Avidya, which causes desire, or Trishna as it is called in Sanskrit. In the language of Vedanta, it is Avidya, Kama, Karma. Ignorance causes desire.
TAMAS: Inertia. Tapas: Austerity; mortification. Taraka Jnana: The knowledge that leads to Moksha. Tejas: Agni; fire. Tivra: Keen; intense. Trishna: Thirsting for objects.
TRIPUTI: The triad-seer, sight and seen. TRISHNA: Sense-hankering. TURIYA: The state of superconsciousness, the fourth state transcending the waking, dreaming and deep sleep states. TYAGA: Renunciation (of egoism, desires and the world).
