Asana system is the 3rd in ashtanga Yoga, yogasana help achieve physical health, control over mind and power of concentration.

yoga position or yoga pose, also called yogasana. A balanced position for smooth energy flow in specific areas of the body and mind.

The heart of any yoga practice is the performance of yoga positions (called asanas), each of which has specific physical and and mental benefits. For each pose here you will find instructions, photos, and the benefits of the pose.

Strengthening from holding yoga positions. Yoga helps increase strength in very specific muscles and muscle groups. Holding positions in yoga is not intended to be uncomfortable.

Since we are all different in our bodies, minds and spirits, so too will we be different in an asana (yoga position).

It is a graceful sequence of twelve yoga positions performed as one continuous exercise. Each position counteracts the one before, stretching the body in a different way and alternately expanding and contracting the chest to regulate the breathing.

Props, including belts, wooden bricks and foam blocks are used to assist settling into postures (asana) and aid the movement between many of the yoga positions thereby helping to avoid injury, rather than as a tool to force the body into alignment! ...

It also provides cushioning for the body in yoga positions which are called poses or asanas. The teacher demonstrates a pose and explains to the students how to do it. You may notice other props in the yoga studio and on the videos.

The difference between the yoga techniques usually lies in the yoga positions, or, as they are called in the yoga lingo, the asanas.
